Built-In Or Portable Baseboard Heater

The days are getting cold and night even colder. If you aren’t already prepared, you should hurry up and secure heating sources in your home. I know that buying a heater is a tough job sometimes, considering how many of them are out there on the market. Just choosing between wall, space or baseboard heater is hard, and then you have to pick a brand too. But we have a quick fix for you. In case you are close to taking a baseboard heating unit, then you should read on because we will talk about some advantages and features of these products.

Electric baseboard heaters are made to be against the wall and use convection heat to circulate the hot air. Since these units are placed just above the floor level, the hot air will rise up and cold air will come down to be heated again. This is how automatic ventilation is being done and in a short time your entire room will be nice and warm.

The strength of these heaters ranges from 500 to 1500 Watts most of the time. They are able to cover a lot of ground, from 50 to 150 square feet, which is enough for any home room. You can place few of them in case you have a large room to heat, since baseboard heaters do not take much space. And you won’t have to worry about safety, they all have a circuit breaker that will prevent overheating. You won’t have to maintain these units at all, except for cleaning the dust.

Another advantage is that they are quiet and you won’t hear them work. Never.

There are two different types of baseboard heaters, built-in or hardwired and portable. And which type should you choose? Let us see.

The biggest difference is the power and portability. Portable heaters are not so powerful but are easy to move to another room, without installation. On the other side, hard wired or built-in heater can not be moved, but emits more heating power.

There are two different models we want to review. It is nothing in depth, but just a short review that will bring you a step close to your decision.

First one is Qmark HBB500. It’s a good solution for homes with pets. Its heating element is immersed in a liquid that is covered with a copper tube. A large diameter allows a big volume of fluid that will keep heating for a while, after you turn off the heater. This saves you energy and money. Since it has a simple design, it can be placed to any wall easily. You can even have a carpet around it, since it will never get so hot to endanger the carpet. Welded steel louvered grilles are there to prevent any direct heat with objects from the outside. This is why you won’t have to worry about accidentally touching this unit and burn yourself.

Second one is a Fahrenheit FBE15002, a portable baseboard unit that can be used agains the baseboard in any room you have. The handles placed at sides will help you move it when needed. It packs a thermostat that will regulate the temperature in the room, along with the sensor that will turn off the heater if it overheats of is bloked by some object. It is quite a durable unit, with a twin 1000 Watt output that emitts 5,200 BTUs of heating power.
