Baseboard Heater Covers
We use baseboard heater cover for two reasons: to improve the looks of heating device and to make it safer. Any cover should be able to solve these two issues, only then it will be worth of purchase. You can find many of these product in retail stores or online, since they are quite simple for manufacturing, many companies are offering their vision of a baseboard heater cover.
When it comes to aesthetics, you can choose from regular white to unusual green color. You can find any color you want or even paint them yourself if you want them to fit your specific indoor decoration. Just make sure you use a paint that is resistant to high temperatures.
I recently found very interesting cover that was an imitation of wood. It was painted in such a way that you would though there is a wood peace instead of the baseboard heater. I think that is great for anyone who has blinds or shades in his home and likes to have that natural look. Also, if you want to incorporate it into a wood cabin, you would not have any troubles at all to match in with the interior. Of course, these are a bit more expensive, but they are still very attractive solution that many people buy.
When it comes to safety, it is important that a baseboard cover protects us from touched the heater directly. This is why it has to cover the heater entirely, from all sides. Lets not forget about the children and their curious fingers. The holes on the heaters must not be bigger then a child’s finger, so you should make sure of that when you are purchasing these products. In the same time, the design must be well in such a way that the heat still has somewhere to go, that it is not trapped inside the cover. I know this sounds silly to you, but there are manufacturers who make mistake and do something like this. I suggest you pick a brand name because of this.
I’ve had a difficult time finding a baseboard heater cover solution. You mention they are available at stores and websites, but I can’t find anything simple that doesn’t involve taking out the nails!
The video you post is a pretty cool solution. No tools needed and manufacturer direct sales. I ordered a couple to try and they just slip over top of the existing crappy heater. Very happy with their look too.
